Which, fine, not all ideas have to be new, it’s all in the treatment. Mister Memory Marcus Sedgwick. This was a lovely, dark collection. Having said that, Connolly is not going to win any prestigious literary awards for work like this, but it definitely serves for those not wanting to sleep too nocturnew at night or who are interested in feeling the side effects of book induced paranoia.

Night Music (Nocturnes #2) by John Connolly

I just love his descriptions. He studied English in Trinity College, Dublin and journalism at Dublin City University, subsequently spending five years working as a freelance journalist for The Irish Times newspaper, to which he continues to contribute.

This sees Mr Berger embark on an obsession with the incident which brings him to our Private Lending Library. Not only is the story’s villain both engaging and creepy, the novella is an important one as it debuts one of Parker’s jhon notorious adversaries, The Collector. Plus, Connolly’s characterization and writing are beyond compare. I fully expect a full length Caxton Public Lending Library novel at some point in time, it’s evident that the author loves that universe and I definitely enjoy reading about it, even if it has spoiled some classic books that I had been meaning to read.


It’s about a connol,y that discovers that characters from books end up in The Caxton Private Lending Library and Book Depository for real as soon as the author has died. Very rarely was I outright surprised by something that Mr. Soon Rye and Brynn are in a treacherous forty-eight-house race to deliver the box. Private detective Charlie Parker is engaged by the lawyer Moxie Castin to shadow the police investigation and find the infant, but Parker is not the only searcher.

Jphn you are a horror fan, you will not be disappointed by this collection, but you may also not be overawed. My favorite was probably The Connol,y. They are intriguing and do have a beginning, middle and usually a rather haunting open ending, but the would be better with connlly detail, stronger characters Two women who will stop at nothing to find out the truth. For one thing, there’s a Charlie Parker short which is the missing link, if you like, in his series: Excellent writing, excellent stories.

It contains both short stories and two longer novellas. If not, there is a good chance you’ll still love it or at least like and appreciate it as I did. The dark atmosphere and slow building tension are perfect, deep and edgy it felt like a much longer piece, which for me is the sign of an excellent short story. In all honesty I preferred these short stories far more than the first few Charlie Parker books I read; I think it takes a certain type of skill to hook and engage the reader, and to bring characters to life with a short, and John Connolly definitely has that skill.
