But now I have turned Thee, my Lord, after being guilty of omissions and transgressions against my soul, apologetically, repentantly, broken heartedly, entreating earnestly for forgiveness, yieldingly confessing to my guilt as I can find no escape from that which was done by me and having no refuge to which I could turn except seeking Thy acceptance of my excuse and admitting me into the realm of Thy capacious mercy.
And by the light of Your face, through which all things are illumined! And Allah bless His messenger and the holy Imams of his household.
And that You will place those who stubbornly resist therein forever. My God and my Protector! I endeavour to draw myself nigh to Thee through Thy invocation And I pray to Thee to intercede on my behalf And I entreat Thee by Thy benevolence to draw me nearer to Thee And grant me that I should be grateful to Thee and inspire me to remember and to invoke Thee.
Who illuminateth those who are in bewilderment! Or submit to tribulation him whom You have spared and shown mercy. Who originated my creation and accorded me my individuality, and ensured my upbringing and welfare and provided my sustenance I beg Thee to restore Thy favours and blessings upon me as Thou didst in the beginning of my life. Forgive me such sins as bring down misfortunes or afflictions O Allah!
If Thou wilt subject me to the penalties of hell in company of Thy enemies and cast me with those who merited Thy punishments and tear me apart from Thy friends and those who will be near to Thee, then my God, my Lord and my Master, though I may patiently bear Thy punishments, how can I calmly accept being kept away from Thee?
O Allah, verily I ask You with the asking of a submissive, abased and lowly man to show me forbearance, to have mercy on me. Whose Name is the remedy for all ills and Whose remembrance is a sure cure for all ailments and obedience to Whom makes one self sufficient; have mercy on one whose only asset is hope and whose only armour is lamentation O” Thou!
Arablc not to hasten me to punishment for what I have done in private:. O Thou who shall exist after the last! So how can I endure the tribulations of the next world and the great ordeals that occur within it? And over bodily members speeding to the places of Your worship in obedience and beckoning for Your forgiveness in submission. Since it only occurs as a result of Your wrath, Your vengeance and Your anger. I reckon that though I may patiently endure the scorching fire of Thy hell, yet how can I resign myself kumayp the denial of Thy pity and clemency?

Nay, Thou art far too kind and generous to destroy one whom thyself nourished and supported, or to drive away from Thyself one whom Thou has kept under Thy protection, or to scare away one whom Thy self hast given shelter, or to abandon in affliction one Thou hast maintained and to whom Thou hast been merciful.
Tasting the flavour of its torment because of his disobedience. Or how should its flames burn him, while You hear his voice and see his place? And this world with its delusions, my own soul with its offences and my delay have deceived me.
Complete text of Du’a’ Kumayl in Arabic with Trasliteration and English Translation
Wilt Thou see me punished with the fire kindled by Thee despite my belief in Thy unity? Forgive every sin that I have committed and every error that I have erred O Allah! Bestow upon me for the sake of Your having given rise [to me] with generosity and Your previous goodness to me!
So he deluded me through my soul’s caprice and therein destiny favoured him. And Thou, exalted be Thy praises, hadst made manifest, out of Thy generosity and kindness, that a believer is not like unto him who du an evil-liver.
Even though it is a tribulation and ordeal whose stay is short, whose subsistence is but little and, whose period is afabic fleeting. Forgive my such sins as would suppress hope. And I have depended upon Your ancient remembrance of me and Your favour toward me. Forgive me my such sins as would hinder my supplication O Allah! Even though it is a tribulation and ordeal kumaly stay is short, whose kummayl is but little and, whose period is but fleeting.
O Thou who existed before the foremost!
Dua-e-Kumayl with English Translation – دُعَاء كُميل
Have I any but You from whom to ask removal of my affliction and regard for my afabic I beg Thee as one who is passing through extreme privation and who supplicates his needs to Thee and his hope has been greatly raised by that which is with Thee.
And over hearts acknowledging Your Divinity through verification. So how can I endure the tribulations of the next world and the great ordeals that occur within it? So by Your might, my Master and my protector, I swear sincerely, if You leave me with speech.
And no transformer of any of my ugly acts into good acts but You. O Allah, I ask You with the asking of one whose indigence is extreme. And whom You have made, along with my bodily members, witness against me. Whether You will give the Fire dominion over faces fallen down prostrate before Your Tremendousness.
O” Thou who art dear to the hearts of those dya truly believe in Thee! And over tongues voicing sincerely the profession of Your Unity and kumwyl thanks to You in praise. So that I may move easily toward You in the battlefields of the foremost.
Accept my apology and have arabid on my intense sufferings and set me free from my heavy fetters of evil deeds My Nourisher! And by Thy grandeur which prevails upon all things And by Thy authority which is exercised over all things And by Thy own self that shall endure forever after all things have vanished And by Thy Names which manifest Thy power over all things And by Thy knowledge aranic pervades all things And by the light of Thy countenance which illuminates everything O Thou who art the light!
Bless Mohammed and the Descendants of Mohammed and do unto me in accordance with that which befitteth Thee.
